Project Cargo Network (PCN) members in Kenya since 2011, Sovereign Logistics in Kenya are delighted to share details of an exciting ongoing project for a cement grinding plant.
The cargo consists of 57 pieces with a gross weight of 200,352kgs and volume of 1,262cbm. The project involves a total of 20 out-of-gauge, containerised (special equipment in open-tops and flat-racks) and breakbulk shipments from Shanghai in China to Mombasa in Kenya before the onward delivery to Athi River on the outskirts of Nairobi at a distance of 465km.
The scope of work handled by Sovereign Logistics includes:
Country Sales & Marketing Manager at Sovereign Logistics, Florence Tuei comments; "As a project team, we undertook detailed preparation and planning for this delicate move, adopting global recommended standards for the transport of cement mill parts. The machinery was packed in steel frames to safely and firmly secure the equipment for transport. A total of 20 trucks were utilised for the move - a combination of low-loaders and standard trucks. The parts are for a 145mtn/hour OPC cement grinding plant."
