Featuring: AlNahrain Company for Transportation and Marine Services
Al Nahrain have recently handled, cleared and delivered 65 ambulances plus 2 water tankers for the Iraqi Ministry of Health and the Iraqi Red Crescent Society. The project involved 60 ambulances loaded in 30 containers for the Iraqi Ministry of Health and 5 x 40' containers loaded with 5 ambulances and 2 water tankers for the Iraqi Red Crescent Society.
The shipments were handled in 2 lots and were picked up from Umm Qasr Port in Iraq and delivered to warehouses in Basra and Baghdad. The cargo details were as follows:
Al Nahrain successfully completed all the required operations including port handling and customs clearance at Umm Qasr Port and delivery of the shipments to the consignee's warehouses in both Basra and Baghdad.
Ragheb S. Banat (Director of Operations & Logistics Services at Al Nahrain) explains the challenges faced; "Some of the important documents were not ready due to lack of time but we managed to arrange the facilitation of the customs formalities. Also, as per the rules and regulations at Umm Qaser Port in Iraq, the customs formalities had to be completed in the presence of representatives from both the Ministry and the Iraqi Red Crescent Society. Then after completing all formalities, we found it was not possible to load the vehicles due to heavy congestion at Umm Qaser Port which coincided with Eid Holiday. So, the vehicles were de-stuffed from the containers and stored at a safe warehouse inside the port under our complete and continuous supervision. Both shipments were eventually loaded on trucks separately and delivered safe and sound to their final destinations with all operations completed with full care and professionalism to the best satisfaction of our client as usual."
